Well, it's official. August is here and the days are getting shorter and shorter.
I can feel it in my energy levels.
Waking up in the dark. Getting home after work and knowing that just a few hours of daylight remain.
Remembering how much better last year was relative to the year before I have a slightly less doom and gloom outlook for the upcoming winter.
Building out your tool list is critical. Building your list of places you can go during the winter to trick your brain is vital.
Local to where I am we have a large number of locations like indoor theme parks, large malls, indoor golf hitting ranges, etc. that I have identified and used last year.
Tools such as vitamin D and light sources have already been picked out. I can reach for them whenever now.
I really want to give back this year... hence the blog. Both as a thankyou to the people who have helped me but also as a way of reaching people who might be having difficulty dealing with the winter and SAD in general.
I think a post a week dealing with a specific topic and technique is a good pace. I may have to change that.
If no one reads this I think the blog will still have had value in that it's therapeutic to write things out... to get them out of your head and onto a page.
Best of Luck to us all.
Just a northern guy battling the winter blues and information about my daily life + thoughts.
